Burgmanns BESS

Reliable battery storage supporting renewable energy growth locally

The Project

Building a cleaner future with reliable battery energy storage solutions in Australia.

Duration

MW

New South Wales is undergoing a major transition from traditional fossil fuel energy to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.

As renewable energy increases, managing fluctuations in electricity supply and demand becomes more challenging. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) play a key role in addressing this challenge by storing energy when supply is high and releasing it when demand increases.

The Burgmanns BESS project is part of this transition. It is a proposed utility-scale energy storage project located near Tamworth, New South Wales. The project will support renewable energy and improve electricity reliability across New South Wales.

Location

651 Burgmann’s Lane, Calala, NSW

Project Overview

  • Capacity: up to 200 MW / 400–800 MWh

  • Location: 651 Burgmanns Lane, Calala NSW

  • Approximately 6 km south-east of Tamworth

  • Adjacent to Tamworth 330 kV substation

  • Development area: up to 8 hectares
